Makeup and Skincare Mashups

Wednesday, 30 March 2016

We talk a lot in the project panning community about multitasking products; eyeshadows you can use as highlighter, lipstick you can use as blush, etc. Nowadays, it's becoming more and more popular for makeup companies to do the work for us and multitask their makeup products as skincare. Now makeup is working even harder for us and improving our skin as well as making it look great!
I have recently fallen in love with the ease of the makeup setting spray/facial spray mashup. Products like MAC Fix+ and the Urban Decay facial sprays are like primer replacements that you spray over the top of your makeup to make it last longer throughout the day. The added benefit is they contain skincare ingredients to hydrate and nourish the skin. Plus I just love how easy and refreshing they are! I often spray way too much because they feel so good.

Even better are the foundations that help improve your skin while you wear them. If you're going to slap them all over so often, they may as well leave a lasting effect! Products like the Korean Skin79 Super BB and the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ give beautiful, luminous finishes to your base while also nourishing your skin. Not only do they contain SPF to prevent sun damage and wrinkles, they also have ingredients like snail slime which stimulates elastin and collagen production to keep your complexion plump and hydrated. These kind of products make me never want to pick up a normal foundation again.

Everyone knows how great oils are for your skin and hair so it was only a matter of time before they started working their way into your makeup bag. The YSL Teint in Oils created quite a stir when they were released last year. They're a tinted lip oil which work very much like a better mashup of a lipgloss and a lip balm by adding a wash of colour with the pack of hydration oils provide. I love how comfortable and easy to wear mine is and it makes me want to replace all my other lip balms with it.

What are your favourite skincare and makeup mashups?

xx Julia
