Top 5 Affordable Lip Glosses

Friday, 29 August 2014

As the weather starts to warm and we move into the summer months in the southern hemisphere, I like to lighten my makeup up a bit, starting with my lip products. Lip gloss is just such an easy product to sweep on and brighten up a whole look. They add colour and shine that I think suits summer days perfectly. To get that easy, breezy lip gloss feeling without a massive price tag, here's a list of my top 5 favourite affordable lip glosses.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer -

Released last year, these liquid lipgloss-lipstick hybrids took the beauty blogging community by storm. Providing a completely opaque colour that remains shiny on the lips for hours, these are some of the best liquid lipstick-like products currently available in the drugstore.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss -

A staple in the Revlon lip product range, the Super Lustrous collection provides a huge variety of colours in both glittery and cream finishes to compliment any makeup look. While I'm not the biggest fan of how Revlon uses glitter, these products are easy, stock-standard drugstore lip glosses that give you exactly what you expect. Read more in my review here.

NYX Butter Gloss -

Another product absolutely raved about in the online beauty community. These lip glosses provide great colour payoff in a beautiful range of bright and neutral colours. They give a lovely wash of colour without any stickiness and also smelling like cupcake batter.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss -

These glosses have been a makeup staple for many makeup users over the last few years. A super affordable, easy to wear lipgloss that gives a wash of colour without any stickiness. The strong cherry scent appeals to some, but not me, unfortunately. The range of colours includes shimmery, glittery, and creams so you're sure to find a shade to suit any makeup look.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire -

The most recently released gloss of these five, I fell in love with this product straight away. A very pigmented, easy to wear product that can be worn over a lipstick or on its own. They have a unique cushiony texture that makes them very comfortable and a slight staining effect means they fade nicely and don't look patchy after a long wear. Read more in my review here.

What affordable lip glosses are your favourites? What do you think of my choices?
