Review | Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Eyeshadow

Wednesday, 27 August 2014

After the major success of the Color Tattoos, Maybelline wanted to keep the hype going with the Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Eyeshadows. As one of the very few drugstore pigments available in Australia, I definitely wanted to give these a try so I picked up two colours: 45 Downtown Brown and 15 Potent Purple.

This collection has a bit of an odd colour range with three neutral colours but then three super bright, not necessarily wearable colours. Downtown Brown is a sparkly taupe colour but there's also a copper and neutral brown. The brights include Potent Purple, a sparkly light purple, a bright blue, and a bright yellow-gold. At least from the two that I've purchased, these powders are very sparkly and lean quite sheer. If you're not someone who likes glittery, sparkly products, then these probably are not for you.

These products are packaged like most loose powder products in a plastic pot with a sieve to let the powder out. They're nice and compact for single eyeshadows but keep in mind that the powder will spread and become a bit messy if they're bouncing around in a makeup bag.

While I do like the idea of these products, the colours aren't very unique and are much too sparkly for everyday wear so I probably won't be picking anymore up. It's just so much more convenient to use a pressed shadow on a day-to-day basis.

Do you prefer pressed or loose shadows? Have you given these ones a try?

xx Julia
